Content#4 Plan

For my fourth piece of content I plan to do a profile on a new and upcoming artist. My initial ideas were Ten Tonnes or Louis Berry, however I am aware that I can’t put all my eggs into one basket incase neither of them respond. Because of this, I have been looking into other artists of a similar popularity to get in contact with.

I took the time to look into related artists to Ten Tonnes and Louis Berry on Spotify and came across a list of other bands that I could also include in this article.

This gave me the idea to change my article from a profile on one artist, to a ‘playlist’, in which I  would include a small list of tracks from new and upcoming artists that I think people will enjoy listening to, and include any interview quotes from artists in the list if I manage to get a response. I developed this idea further and changed from general artists to local artists in Sheffield.

I don’t want the interviews to be too in depth, as this isn’t an exclusive or a feature simply focusing on one band or artist. This article is focusing on giving exposure to as many artists as possible.

Below are a list of artists that I will be including in my article. Not all of them will be interviewed, however all of them are local bands that I feel deserve more recognition for their work.

  • The Sundowns
  • The Seamonsters
  • Oddity Road
  • The Meadows
  • RedFaces

The questions below are ones that I plan to ask all the artists I interview. They are brief, yet cover detail about the band themselves as well as their opinion on the music scene in Sheffield, which is mainly what this article is about.

  1. How would you describe your sound? Who do you take your inspiration from?
  2. Is there a particular track that you’re most proud of or means the most to you as a band?
  3. What do you think to the Sheffield music scene at the moment?
  4. Is there any other local bands you think deserve more exposure and credit for the music they’re producing?

I have also decided to compile a playlist of tracks from the bands mentioned in this article, as well as other Sheffield artists. This playlist will be linked via my spotty account and it is available for everybody to listen to.

FEATURED IMAGE

I have seen a few of these bands live so when looking thorugh my camera roll, I picked out the best image I could find that I had taken. I settled on this shot of Oddity Road.

image1-2

Although doesn’t show the bands name in the image, the colours are dark and mellow, matching the general theme of indie music, which a lot of the bands in this article are. Furthermore, the band members are all very close together, showing that they’re on a small stage so are a smaller band, making a name for themselves by playing smaller venues. This is the overall point of this article, to give some love to bands that are finding their feet in the Sheffield music scene and deserve more recognition.
